Bades Huk Holiday Resort – Bringing quality to life

Bades Huk Holiday Resort – Bringing quality to life

The new Bades Huk holiday resort opened in Hohen Wieschendorf on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast in the summer of 2021. In 77 apartments situated right on the beach, guests can enjoy the private atmosphere of a holiday flat combined with the all-round service of a resort. Awarded five DTV stars and the DTV ‘Paws’ classification, Bades Huk offers a holistic quality concept set against a unique natural backdrop. Resort specialist Clavis International GmbH is responsible for the development, marketing and sales.

In an interview:

Silva C. Eddicks and Hamid M. Farahmand

Director of Clavis International GmbH and Managing Director of Bades Huk Betriebsgesellschaft.

Quality management is a dynamic process. For us, this means constantly scrutinising our procedures as part of a structured process, evaluating guest feedback immediately and implementing the best possible solutions.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourism Association
You have been awarded the DTV star classification this year and demonstrate great commitment to quality assurance. Why is quality management important for your company, and how can such quality marks help in this regard?

Hamid M. Farahmand
In an increasingly dense jungle of options, guests are often grateful for guidance from a credible and independent institution. The DTV classification is not only a reliable guide – and thus a decisive competitive advantage – but also a driving force that encourages us to constantly rethink, review, learn and improve. As a relatively new resort, it is our aim to demonstrate and further develop quality, as this is the only way we can continue to earn our guests’ trust and build a growing customer base. We are situated on a peninsula surrounded by nature, and our location alone means we have a responsibility to prioritise and honour quality.

TMV
Apart from certification, are there any key quality criteria that are essential for maintaining your high standards?

Hamid M. Farahmand
Quality requires a holistic approach to thinking and acting and, above all, quality is always a team effort. From the resort manager right through to housekeeping, hospitality and a culture of service are brought to life to offer guests a holistic holiday experience. Ideally, the enjoyment derived from providing the service should enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen customer loyalty. Likewise, the quality-related principles are upheld at all levels throughout the service chain.

TMV
The DTV star classification assesses quality in the areas of infrastructure, facilities and premises, as well as service. What is key to meeting guests’ quality expectations?

Silva C. Eddicks
We aim to create a holiday home where our guests feel at ease. This begins at check-in at reception and the moment they first step into the holiday flat. Information about the region, the country and its people is provided by Bades Huk’s magazine ‘Morgenpost’, which is handed out to guests daily. We’re happy to help with leisure planning and offer recommendations on request, whilst an online guest guide also provides tips and insider knowledge.

Guests also feel satisfied when they realise they can approach anyone and will always find a sympathetic ear. An empathetic approach, an open-minded nature and a deep understanding of the hospitality ethos are key requirements that we continually encourage, teach and practise.

Quality management is a dynamic process. For us, this means constantly scrutinising our procedures as part of a structured process, monitoring trends and needs, and immediately evaluating guest feedback to implement the best possible solutions.

TMV
What further measures do you take to achieve a high level of guest satisfaction?

Silva C. Eddicks
Collaborations with partners in the leisure, culture and catering sectors, comprising joint promotions and holiday packages, ensure a varied stay. The neighbouring golf course has been completely modernised and made playable again. At the Bades Huk Shop, you’ll find everything you need for your day-to-day requirements. The focus is on regional products. We also strive to continually create those ‘goosebump moments’ that make a holiday unforgettable. Whether it’s, for example, a campfire on the beach, with a crackling fire, bread on a stick and marshmallows for our younger guests, paired with delicious snacks, cool drinks and live music.

TMV
47 of your apartments have been awarded the DTV ‘Paws’ classification as dog-friendly accommodation. What advantages do you see in this classification?

Silva C. Eddicks
We wanted to meet the growing demand with an attractive offering for both dogs and their owners. The ‘Paws’ classification helps guests find holiday accommodation that welcomes dogs and offers a certified standard of quality – from facilities and exercise areas right through to dog-friendly leisure activities.

TMV
Are there any further initiatives you’d like to tackle in due course? What goals have you set yourselves for the next three years in this regard?

Hamid M. Farahmand
Our aim is to make a sustainable contribution to safeguarding and developing Wismar Bay as a tourist destination, with a focus on sustainable tourism, and to share the region’s unique features with our guests. Environmental and social sustainability are key pillars of our concept. In close cooperation with the local council, we are planning a nature discovery centre that will offer valuable insights into the birdlife and flora of the peninsula.

At the same time, we aim to strengthen the village community and sustainably develop the cultural landscape, not only for holidaymakers but also for the region and its residents. We wish to further establish year-round, strategic partnerships within the region to forge even stronger links between visitors and the local area.

Furthermore, cycle tourism is becoming an even greater focus for us, as the area around Wismar Bay and the direct link from Bades Huk to the EuroVelo walking and cycling route provide the perfect conditions for this.
