Pangia Beach – luxury penthouses with views over the Indian Ocean

Pangia Beach – luxury penthouses with views over the Indian Ocean

Just four degrees south of the equator, in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, lies a group of 115 islands – better known as the Seychelles. Whether viewed from land or sea, this small archipelago captivates with its breathtaking beauty. Lush green tropical forests lead to powder-white beaches, fringed with gently swaying palm trees. No wonder the Seychelles have long been a popular holiday destination for travellers from all over the world. Germany has been the most important source market for years; no other country accounts for as many visitor arrivals. Investors, too, have discovered this little paradise as a lucrative investment opportunity. This is because the Seychelles have achieved sustainable growth in harmony with nature. The local property market is experiencing steadily rising demand and ranks amongst the world’s top destinations for a second home.

After spending two decades away from these idyllic islands, Seychelles-born interior designer Georgia Van Heyste returned to Mahé with her family in March 2014. She also brought with her her late father’s dream: to build luxury residences right on the beach. Her father had already purchased the ideal plot of land, which offered the possibility of a private marina. Together with her husband and financial expert Vincent, she developed the concept for Pangia Beach. “In honour of my father, we have ensured that Pangia Beach remains forever linked to him,” explains Van Heyste. “Pangia is derived from the first three letters of his first name, Panos, and the last three letters of my name. This brings things full circle, as I am completing what he started.”

Working closely with the renowned South African architect Saota, Van Heyste – who runs a design studio in London – has developed the interior design for the 25 apartments and the four exclusive penthouses.  It combines the refreshing style of ‘barefoot luxury’ with the homely feel of one’s own four walls. During the development, Van Heyste was able to draw on her many years of professional experience working on high-end projects in London and New York. Following a two-year construction period, Pangia Beach has been fully completed and is now ready to be handed over to future owners on a turnkey basis.
